Jordan Gill fighting on James DeGale undercard

Updated 14th March 2013

Jordan ‘The Thrill’ Gill is looking to extend his perfect record on the James DeGale undercard.

The 18-year-old featherweight has won all four of his professional contests to date and is hoping to make a big impression.

“I cant wait, it’s going to be a great night, I’ve got a lot of support coming down so hopefully everyone will enjoy the fight and it’ll be a win, no doubt,” Jordan said.

“I’ll have had five fights in under a year, which is great, a happy fighter is a busy fighter and for an 18-year-old you can’t fault it.

“I’m feeling great, training hard twice a day with hard runs, circuits, sprints, hard sparring, hard pads; everything is going really well.

"I'll hopefully be making a big noise to get people on the Team Gill bandwagon."

The youngster from Chatteris impressively defeated Sid Razak over six rounds in his last fight, but was dissatisfied with some aspects of his performance.

Since then Jordan has knuckled down is aiming to give an even better performance this time out.

“After my last fight, we went back to the drawing board, worked on a few things, I got caught with a few stupid shots, so we’ve been working on a few things with my defence,” Jordan said.

“You’re going to see some new skills, lots of punches - just a good fight - and I’m going to put on a good performance, no doubt!

“I’m sparring good people like Barry Awad aka Kid Galahad, Leigh Wood Nottingham’s top prospect, Atif ‘Unique’ Shafiq, it’s a great stable and there’s lots of fighter at my weight so we’re all helping each other, having a great time learning everyday.

“Where else can you go and get this sort of experience training and learning from bottom to top level fighters like Kell Brook who’s fighting for the IBF world welterweight title against Devon Alexander, former champions you learn so much from like Junior Witter

“I can’t wait, training has gone brilliantly, I’m in the shape of my life - I’m getting stronger and developing every day and I’m getting better and better in each fight.

“This is exactly the sort of bill I want to be on: top class fighters, big publicity, Channel 5, that’s what it’s all about.

“I just want to keep getting the big fights, make my statement and hopefully a lot of people, who may have come to watch somebody else, will catch my fight and then want to come and watch me.”

Jordan is scheduled to feature on the James DeGale undercard at Glow, Bluewater.

Unfortunately, the original date of Saturday 23 March for the fight has now been postponed, awaiting confirmation of a new date.
