Jordan ready to Thrill on Sunday

Updated 2nd December 2014

Jordan ‘The Thrill’ Gill is predicting “fireworks” when he enters the ring on Sunday.

The 20-year-old Chatteris fighter is aiming to extend his perfect professional record to 12 straight victories at Hermitage Leisure Centre, Whitwick.

Above: Jordan talks about his fight on Sunday, his preparations and 2015.

“It’s going to be fireworks, it’s going to come on someone’s chin, they’re going to get it,” Jordan said.

“You can never take it for granted, but whoever is in that ring Sunday, I’m going to give it to them.

“There have been a couple of names mentioned, both are good kids, so they’ll come for a fight, come to try and take my head off as usual and they’ll get dealt with.

“Everything is going great, all the hard work is done so it’s all about tapering down towards the fight.

“It’s going to be a good one for the fans, there’s 15 fights on the bill – it’s going to be an action packed afternoon of boxing, so get yourself there."

This will be the fourth fight of 2014 for Jordan, who is eager to fight and feels he is getting the right guidence at the Ingle Gym to maximise his development.

“I’d fight every week if it was down to me, but at the moment they’re picking the right fights for me," Jordan said.

"I’m only 20-years-old and little by little, bit by bit we’re making progress and you’ll see that on Sunday.

"I’ve developed massively not just as a fighter but as a man in the last 12 months - I’m learning a lot, learning about the business, learning about boxing, more things to do with nutrition, more to do with strength and conditioning, I’m developing into a man now and the knockouts are going to start coming because I’m punching hard.

"We’ve just come back from Fuerte Ventura with Kell (Brook) who is making progress after his injury, Kid Galahad is always on it, he’s looking sharp.

"To be in a gym with so many top level fighters is remarkable, because if you look at any other gym in the country, if they’ve got a British champion, that’s the pinnacle for them really and they look up to that person.

"In our gym we’ve got British, Commonwealth, European and World champions and for us, that’s normal. If you win a British title in our gym, then you’re run of the mill, you’re an ordinary guy, so to look up to these guys and do what they do is good.

"We train like Kell (Brook) trains just to keep him ticking along, so we’re really training at world level pace and I’m only going to get better from it."

Jordan is fully focused on progressing as far as possible in his career and having already claimed his first professional title this year, with a second round technical knockout over Michael Stupart to claim the British Masters Bronze light-welterweight title, he is determined to go all the way.

"For me, I’ve done my A-levels and my GCSEs, I could have gone to university and got a good job, so if I don’t win a British, Commonwealth, European, World title, then boxing’s not worth it for me maybe, because I could have made that money any other way," Jordan said.

"I think this is my break-through year, 2015 I’m going to come through and hopefully win an English, British title.

"I turn 21 in July and then I’m going to start knocking on the door for some major titles.

"I want to build myself up and hopefully get in the top 10 in Great Britain in the next two fights and see where we go from there, see what route we take and start bashing people up."
